Beginning Force Classes


Creative Dance I (Ages 3-4 years old)

Creative Dance I is a class designed for dancers 3-4 years old. This class introduces students to the fundamentals of ballet, as ballet is the core of all dance styles, while exploring the elements of dance and musicality through song, dance, activities and games. This class will also introduce students to basic acro technique. Girls are required to wear a Leotard, pink tights and pink ballet shoes. Dancers may wear a ballet skirt. Boys should wear comfortable, non-restrictive athletic clothing and black ballet shoes. Long hair must be pulled back. This is a 60 minute class that meets once a week. This year-long class will feature one dance in our spring Showcase.

 

Creative Dance II (Ages 4-5 years old)

Creative Dance II is a class designed for dancers 5-6 years old. Creative Dance II continues with the ballet and basic acro technique, learned in Creative Dance I, and introduces students to tap technique. A leotard, pink tights, pink ballet shoes, and black tie tap shoes are required for girls. Dancers may wear a ballet skirt, as long as it is not distracting to the dancer. Boys should wear comfortable, non-restrictive athletic clothing, black ballet shoes and black tie tap shoes. Long hair must be pulled back. This is a 60 minute class that meets once a week. This year-long class will feature two dances (one ballet and one tap) in our spring Showcase.

 

Creative Dance III (Ages 5-6 years old)

Creative Dance III is a class designed for dancers 6-7 years old. Creative Dance III is a continuation of ballet, tap and acro technique learned in Creative Dance II. Jazz technique will also be introduced in this class. A solid color leotard, pink or suntan transitional tights, pink ballet shoes, black tie tap shoes and tan jazz shoes are required for this class. Dancers may wear a ballet skirt, as long as it is not distracting to the dancer. Boys must wear comfortable, non-restrictive athletic clothing, black ballet shoes, black tie tap shoes and black jazz shoes. Girls must have long hair pulled back into a bun. This is a 75 minute class that meets once a week. This year-long class will feature three dances (one ballet, one tap and one jazz) in our spring Showcase.



Wee Dance (Ages 18 months - 3 years old)

Wee Dance is a Creative Movement class for dancers 18 months-3 years old. This class is an introduction to the basic elements of Ballet as well as to the elements of dance, tumbling and musicality designed to teach children to dance freely with skill and creativity. This is a fun, high energy class structured to keep our “Wee” dancers excited and engaged in learning! Creative Movement will guide dancers to new worlds of knowledge, creativity and self-expression through song, dance, activities and games. Students should wear comfortable, non-restrictive clothing. Dance attire, leotards, ballet skirts, etc. are acceptable, but not required. This is a 60 minute class that meets once a week. This year-long class will feature one dance in our Spring Showcase.

 

Wee Hip-Hop I (Ages 2-4 years old)

This class is designed to introduce Hip Hop technique, rhythm exercises and body awareness to children 2 – 4 years of age through creative and engaging exercises, combinations and games. It focuses on the inclusive "energy" of hip hop with age appropriate steps and music. Introducing Hip Hop technique at a young age helps build a strong foundation for more advanced movement and musicality by teaching dancers to transition through tempo changes, isolate body movement and introducing them to basic rhythm patterns and changes. This fun, upbeat class will keep them moving! Students should wear comfortable, non-restrictive clothing and athletic or tennis shoes. This 60 minute class meets once a week. This year-long class will feature one dance in our Spring Showcase.

 

Wee Hip-Hop II (Ages 4-6 years old)

Wee Hip-Hop II is a class designed for children 4 – 6 years old. Wee Hip-Hop II continues with the hip-hop basic technique, learned in Wee Hip-Hop I through creative and engaging exercises, combinations and games. Early Morning Beginning Force Classes

 

Move and Groove (Ages 18 months - 4 years old)

This class is designed to introduce basic ballet, hip hop, musical theater, tumbling, musicality and creative movement to children ages 18 months – 4 years old. In this high energy, engaging class students will explore a variety of styles through song, dance, activities and games. Girls are required to wear a leotard, pink tights and pink ballet shoes. Dancers may wear a ballet skirt. Boys should wear comfortable, non-restrictive athletic clothing and black ballet shoes. Long hair must be pulled back. This is a 60 minute class that meets once a week. This year-long class will feature one dance in our spring Showcase.

 

Move and Groove Baby and Me

This is a fitness dance class that will benefit both parent/caregiver and baby alike! This class allows new Moms, Dads or Caregivers to exercise without taking away precious bonding time with their little one. You will love this high energy, fun work out of dancing, toning, bonding, and meeting other new parents–no sitter needed! You will enjoy a low impact, toning workout while your baby gets to experience all of your movements: rocking motions, music, and time close to you! Adults may "wear" their little one in any standard baby wrap or buckle carrier.

 

Acting Classes

 

Musical Theatre

 This class is designed for students ages 6 and up. Students will explore the fundamentals of Musical Theatre to develop and expand upon their vocal technique and acting skills. We will explore essential techniques such as breating, diction, projection and movement while singing and dancing. Students should wear comfy, non-restrictive clothing. This is a 60 minute class that meets once a week. This year-long class will feature one routine in our Spring Showcase.

 

Acting

In this class students will explore the core concepts of acting from script analysis to performance skill building. They will explore the process of rehearsing scenes and scripts that contain complex story lines while learning about character development. They will learn to delve more analytically and more emotionally into each character they portray. This is a 60 minute class that meets once a week.

 

Force Technique Classes

Technique classes are offered for dancers ages 6 and up, beginner through advanced. A CFDC instructor will evaluate each student to determine which level is appropriate for that student. Class levels are determined by age and experience in each discipline.

 

Acro

Acro is not the typical tumbling or gymnastics class. Our experienced acro instructor will guide the class towards increased flexibility, balance, strength, muscle control, discipline and concentration. This class will focus on fundamental acrobatic technique, teaching such skills as handstands, chin stands, elbow stands, cartwheels, back bends, walkovers, balance and contortion tricks, at each student's individual level of experience. Tight fitting attire is required! Loose fitting clothing can hinder movement and impede the instructor’s ability to spot dancers during tricks. Long hair must be pulled back into a ponytail or bun. No socks, sweatpants, or hoodies! This is a 60 minute class that meets once a week. This year long class will feature one performance in our spring Showcase.

 

Ballet

Here at CFDC we take ballet very seriously! Ballet is the core of all dance styles and provides a strong foundation for all other dance instruction. It is highly recommended that all students take at least one ballet class. Technique, technique, technique! Ballet technique classes are designed for ages 6 and up. Girls must wear a solid color leotard, pink tights, sansha pink or flesh colored canvas elastosplits. Ballet skirts, leg warmers and ballet sweaters are optional and up to the teacher’s discretion. Hair MUST be pulled back in to a nice, clean, sleek bun. Ribbons, headbands and barrettes are a fun way to dress up your bun, as long as they are not distracting! Boys must wear comfortable, non-restrictive athletic clothing and black ballet shoes. A professional, clean look is ideal for ballet. This 60 or 90 minute class meets once a week. This year-long class will feature one dance in our spring Showcase.

 

Broadway Jazz

Broadway Jazz is an upbeat class which combines classical jazz technique with Broadway style routines and music. Girls may wear a solid color leotard, bra top, camisole, tank top, t-shirt, booty shorts and leggings. All hair must be pulled back into a ponytail, a high bun would be ideal, but not mandatory. Tan bloch super jazz shoes must be worn at all times. Boys may wear comfortable, non-restrictive athletic clothing and bare feet. (Dance Paws or Ballet shoes may be needed for turning) This is a 60 minute class that meets once a week. This year long class will feature one dance in our spring showcase.

 

Contemporary

Contemporary combines the styles of jazz, lyrical and modern while using ballet technique. This class is designed for dancers ages 9 and up. Girls may wear a solid color leotard, bra top, camisole, tank top, t-shirt, booty shorts, biketard, leggings and yoga pants. Sweatpants and hoodies may be worn for warm up only! All hair must be pulled back into a ponytail; a high bun would be ideal, but not mandatory. Elastosplits or Dance Paws must be worn at all times during this class. Boys may wear comfortable, non-restrictive athletic clothing (Dance Paws or Ballet Shoes may be needed for turning) This is a 60 minute class that meets once a week. This year-long class will feature one dance in our spring Showcase.

 

Force Friends

Force Friends is a class designed for dancers with special needs. We will explore the elements of dance through creative movement, ballet and jazz technique. This is a fun, upbeat class where we will encourage all dancers to try new and exciting things, promoting self-esteem, confidence, self-expression and creativity. Dancers may wear comfortable, non-restrictive clothing. Hair should be pulled back, when possible. This is a 45 minute class that meets once a week. This year-long class will feature one dance in our spring Showcase.

 

Hip-Hop

Hip-hop is a high energy style of dance that is primarily performed to pop, rap, R&B and hip-hop music. Hip-Hop involves a variety of movements such as popping, locking and breaking. Hip-hop technique, as well as free-styling, will be used in each class. Separate boys and girls hip-hop class will be offered. Dancers may wear comfortable, non-restrictive dance attire such as t-shirts, tank tops, bra tops, booty shorts, athletic shorts, sweatpants and/or hoodies. Athletic shoes must be worn at all times. This is a 60 minute class that meets once a week. This year-long class will feature one dance in our spring Showcase.

 

Four Flavors (Hip-Hop)

Four Flavors is a hip-hop class dedicated to popping, locking, tutting and Krumping. This class will compliment any of our hip-hop classes or all on it's own. Dancers may wear comfortable, non-restrictive dance attire such as t-shirts, tank tops, bra tops, booty shorts, athletic shorts, sweatpants and/or hoodies. Athletic shoes must be worn at all times. This is a 60 minute class that meets once a week. This year-long class will feature one dance in our spring Showcase.

 

Open Hip-Hop

Open hip-hop is a class designed for ages 6 and up. In this class students will learn a variety of different hip-hop styles. Dancers may wear comfortable, non-restrictive dance attire such as t-shirts, tank tops, bra tops, booty shorts, athletic shorts, sweatpants and/or hoodies. Athletic shoes must be worn at all times. This is a 60 minute class that meets once a week. This year-long class will feature one dance in our spring Showcase.

 

Jazz

Jazz is an upbeat class incorporating contemporary and traditional jazz dance styles to current popular music, all while using ballet technique. Girls may wear a solid color leotard, bra top, camisole, tank top, t-shirts, booty shorts, biketard, leggings and yoga pants. Sweatpants and hoodies may be worn for warm up only! All hair must be pulled back into a ponytail; a high bun would be ideal, but not mandatory. Tan Bloch super jazz shoes must be worn at all times. Lyrical

Lyrical is a class that explores movement that can be fluid or abstract using ballet and jazz technique. This class is for ages 6 and up. Girls may wear a solid color leotard, bra top, camisole, tank top, t-shirts, booty shorts, biketard, leggings and yoga pants. Sweatpants and hoodies may be worn for warm up only! All hair must be pulled back into a ponytail; a high bun would be ideal, but not mandatory. Tan jazz shoes or ballet shoes must be worn at all times. Boys may wear comfortable, non-restrictive athletic clothing and bare feet. (Dance Paws or Ballet Shoes may be needed for turning) This is a 60 minute class that meets once a week. This year-long class will feature one dance in our spring Showcase.

 

Pointe

Pointe is a classical ballet discipline. Dancers learn the technique to dance with reinforced shoes to have the ability to appear weightless when performing. This class is offered for dancers who age 11 and up. Dancers must wear solid color leotards, pink tights and pointe shoes. Ballet skirts, leg warmers and ballet sweaters are optional and up to the teachers discretion. Hair MUST be pulled into a nice, clean, sleek bun. A professional, clean look is ideal for ballet. Each dancer must be evaluated before registering for a pointe class. This is a 45 minute class that meets once a week.

 

Pre Pointe

Pre-pointe class is offered to ballet students who are not yet on pointe to further develop and strengthen the muscles necessary to go en pointe. Pre-pointe classes stress correct alignment and correct classical ballet technique. This class is offered for dancers who age 11 and up. Dancers must wear solid color leotards, pink tights and pointe shoes. Ballet skirts, leg warmers and ballet sweaters are optional and up to the teachers discretion. Hair MUST be pulled into a nice, clean, sleek bun. A professional, clean look is ideal for ballet. Each dancer must be evaluated before registering for a pointe class. This is a 45 minute class that meets once a week.

 

Tap

Tap is a form of dance and music. It is the sound of one’s tap shoe hitting the floor as a percussive instrument. There are two forms of tap, Broadway and Rhythm. This class will focus more on the Rhythm style of tap dance. Girls may wear a solid color leotard, bra top, camisole, tank top, t-shirt, booty shorts, biketard, leggings and yoga pants. Sweatpants and hoodies may be worn for warm up only! All hair must be pulled back into a ponytail; a high bun would be ideal, but not mandatory. Boys may wear comfortable, non-restrictive athletic clothing. Black, tie, split sole tap shoes must be worn at all times during this class. This is a 60 minute class that meets once a week. This year-long class will feature one dance in our spring Showcase.

Tumbling

Tumbling is designed for dancers who are interested in gymnastic technique. Tumbling adds an exciting quality to all dance forms. Skills like cartwheels, back hand springs, aerials and back tucks will be learned in this class, at each student's individual level of experience. Tight fitting attire is required! Loose fitting clothing can hinder movement and impede the instructor’s ability to spot dancers during tricks. Long hair must be pulled back into a ponytail or bun. No socks, sweatpants, or hoodies! This is a 60 minute class that meets once a week. This year long class will feature one performance in our spring Showcase.

 

Strength & Stretch/Leaps & Turns

The strength and stretch portion of this class is designed to condition a dancer’s body. Students will learn a series of stretching and strengthening techniques that will benefit them in all dance styles, sports and activities. Dancers will learn to condition their bodies so they can safely perform the physical demands dance requires with the least risk of possible injury. This class would also be ideal for those involved in athletic sports. The leaps and turns portion of class will focus on the technical aspects and foundation of leaps, turns and jumps. It will help develop balance, strength, elevation and body alignment.

 

This class is designed for students ages 6 and up. (Level I Ages 6-12, Level II Ages 13 and up) Students must wear comfortable, non-restrictive clothing that is not loose fitting. Loose fitting clothing can hinder movement and makes it difficult for the instructor to identify proper technique. T-shirts, bra tops, camisoles, tank tops, yoga pants, booty shorts, athletic shorts and leggings are all acceptable. Hair must be pulled back into a ponytail or bun. Must have athletic shoes and jazz shoes at every class! This is a 90 minute class that meets once a week.

These classes will range in a variety of styles depending on the demand for each style. Classes are for adults 18 and up. Please see Class Schedule for specific classes currently being offered.

 

Creative Force Master Classes

CFDC will be offering a variety of master classes throughout the dance year. We will be bringing in famous choreographers known throughout the dance world. We will announce upcoming events as details become available!
