We are proud to offer an exciting new program for dancers who are college bound! Did you know that even if you do not plan to major in dance you can still reap the financial benefits of earning scholarship money by joining a college dance team? Colleges such as Towson University, and many others, have just such a team where dancers who audition and make it on to their award-winning team are awarded a partial scholarship each semester they participate while pursuing a major that may have nothing to do with dance. Our Next Step Program is designed to help dancers learn the skills they will need to nail that audition!

Students wishing to explore this path will take weekly classes structured to provide a solid foundation in the styles most sought after on college teams. Whether you’re looking to pursue a dance major or just want the opportunity to continue dancing in college while exploring other academics, we have created this program to provide you with the skills you will need to achieve your goals.

Making Friends

Starting college can be daunting, with new faces, a new environment, and a whole new set of experiences. Joining a dance team or club is an excellent way to meet like-minded individuals and form lasting friendships. Dance brings together people who share a common passion, and this shared interest makes it easier to connect and form meaningful relationships with other dancers. Being part of a dance team also fosters a sense of camaraderie and teamwork. The time spent practicing, performing, and competing together creates strong bonds and lifelong friendships. Dance teams and clubs often participate in social events, competitions, and performances. These activities provide ample opportunities to socialize, network, and build a supportive community.

Staying in Shape

Maintaining physical fitness is crucial, especially during the college years. Dance is a fun and effective way to stay in shape and maintain a healthy lifestyle. It provides a comprehensive workout that engages multiple muscle groups, improves cardiovascular health, and enhances flexibility and coordination.

In addition, College life can be stressful between academic pressures and busy schedules. Dancing is an excellent way to relieve stress, boost mood, and improve mental health through the release of endorphins. Participating in dance helps establish a routine of regular physical activity, promoting overall health and well-being. This routine can carry over into other areas of life, encouraging healthy habits and a balanced lifestyle.

Scholarships

For many students, the financial aspect of college can be a significant concern. Dance scholarships can provide valuable financial assistance and make higher education more accessible. Many colleges offer scholarships to talented dancers based on their skills and achievements. These scholarships can cover tuition, room and board, and other expenses, making college more affordable.

Dance in college offers numerous benefits that enhance the overall college experience. From making friends and staying fit to securing scholarships and preparing for a future career, dance provides a pathway to personal and professional growth. At Creative Force Dance Center, we encourage our students to continue their dance journey in college, reaping the many rewards it offers and our Next Step Program is structured to help you reach your goals. Whether you aim to perform professionally or simply enjoy dancing as a hobby, the opportunities and experiences gained through college dance are priceless.
