
Force Technique Classes

Acro
Description: Acro is not the typical tumbling or gymnastics class. Our experienced Acro instructor will guide the class towards increased flexibility, balance, strength, muscle control, discipline and concentration. This class will focus on fundamental acrobatic technique, teaching such skills as handstands, chin stands, elbow stands, cartwheels, back bends, walkovers, balance and contortion tricks, at each student's individual level of experience. This class is a 60-minute session held once a week throughout the year. Students in this class will learn one dance that will be featured in our annual end-of-year Showcase. This class will also be featured in our Fall Charity Showcase.
Attire & Hair: Students must wear form-fitting athletic attire to ensure the instructor can spot safely. Long hair should be secured in a ponytail or bun. Proper attire and preparation help create a safe, comfortable experience for all participants.

Ballet
Description: Here at CFDC we take ballet very seriously! Ballet is the core of all dance styles and provides a strong foundation for all other dance instruction. It is highly recommended that all students take at least one ballet class. Ballet technique classes are designed for ages 6 and up. This class is a 60-minute session held once a week throughout the year. Students in this class will learn one dance that will be featured in our annual end-of-year Showcase. This class will also be featured in our Fall Charity Showcase.
Attire & Hair: Female dancers must wear a solid-colored leotard, pink tights, and pink ballet shoes. A ballet skirt is allowed, provided it does not create a distraction. Male dancers should wear comfortable, non-restrictive athletic attire along with black ballet shoes. Long hair must be secured in a bun.

Ballet Conditioning
Description: This class will focus more on the strengthening, lengthening and flexibility training vital to dancers of all styles. Students will learn to engage all muscle groups, improving overall fitness level and health. This class is meant to take in conjunction with our traditional ballet technique class. This year long class will not have a dance in our end of year showcase.
Attire & Hair: Female dancers must wear a solid-colored leotard with shorts. Most of class will be done barefoot. Jazz or Ballet shoes may be requested at some parts of class. Male dancers should wear dancewear or athletic-style clothing to ensure ease of movement and comfort during class. Hair must be in a bun.
Required supplies: supplies can be bought from the links below or other stores that carry them

Contemporary
Description: Contemporary combines the styles of jazz, lyrical and modern while using ballet technique. This class is designed for dancers ages 9 and up. This class is a 60-minute session held once a week throughout the year. Students in this class will learn one dance that will be featured in our annual end-of-year Showcase. This class will also be featured in our Fall Charity Showcase.
Attire & Hair: Males and females must wear dance or athletic attire. Long hair must be pulled back into a ponytail or bun.

Hip Hop
Description: Hip-hop is a high energy style of dance that is primarily performed to pop, rap, R&B and hip-hop music. Hip-Hop involves a variety of movements such as popping, locking and breaking. Hip-hop technique, as well as free-styling, will be used in each class. This class is a 60-minute session held once a week throughout the year. Students in this class will learn one dance that will be featured in our annual end-of-year Showcase. This class will also be featured in our Fall Charity Showcase.
Attire & Hair: Males and females can wear comfortable clothing or athletic wear. Long hair must be pulled back into a ponytail or bun.
*Athletic shoes must also be worn for a portion of this class. We recommend a shoe with a supportive sole. Flat bottom shoes are not recommended.

Jazz
Description: Jazz is an upbeat class incorporating contemporary and traditional jazz dance styles to current popular music, all while using ballet technique. This class is a 60-minute session held once a week throughout the year. Students in this class will learn one dance that will be featured in our annual end-of-year Showcase. This class will also be featured in our Fall Charity Showcase.
Attire & Hair: Males and females must wear dance or athletic attire. Long hair must be pulled back into a ponytail or bun.

Leaps & Turns
Description: This class will introduce students to a variety of exercises designed to improve leaps, turns and jumps. Students will focus on the technical aspects and foundation of these tricks. It will help develop balance, strength, elevation and body alignment. Tan jazz shoes are required for this class. This year long class will not have a dance in our end of year showcase.
Attire & Hair: Males and females must wear dance or athletic attire. Hair must be pulled back into a bun.

Poms
Description: Pom is a dance style that has clean, sharp and precise movements and incorporates many other styles including jazz and hip hop. Pom is often performed with poms throughout an entire routine. It is an incredibly popular style for college dance teams because it is energetic, entertaining and fun to perform and watch! In a pom dance class students will learn pom arm motions along with technical dance skills like turns, jumps, kicks, and leaps. This class is a 60-minute session held once a week throughout the year. Students in this class will learn one dance that will be featured in our annual end-of-year Showcase. This class will also be featured in our Fall Charity Showcase.
Attire & Hair: Students must wear dance or athletic attire. Long hair must be pulled back into a ponytail or bun.

Pre-Pointe & Pointe
Description: In this class dancers learn the technique to dance with reinforced shoes to have the ability to appear weightless when performing. Dancers who are new to this class will begin with Pre-Pointe and will be evaluated by the teacher throughout the year to see if they are ready to go fully “En Pointe”. Only when the teacher has approved, should a dancer purchase Pointe shoes. This class is offered for dancers in levels III & IV only and must be taken with our leveled Ballet and Ballet Conditioning classes. This class is a 60-minute session held once a week throughout the year. Students in this class will learn one dance that will be featured in our annual end-of-year Showcase. This class will also be featured in our Fall Charity Showcase.

Strength & Stretch
Description: This class is designed to condition a dancer’s body by increasing strength, stamina and flexibility. Students will learn a series of stretching and strengthening techniques that will benefit them in all dance styles, sports and activities. Dancers will learn to condition their bodies and properly warm up before performances so they can safely perform the physical demands dance requires with the least possible risk of injury. This class would also be ideal for those involved in both dance and athletic sports. This year long class will not have a dance in our end of year showcase.
Attire & Hair: Males and females must wear dance or athletic attire. Long hair must be pulled back into a ponytail or bun.
*Athletic shoes must also be worn for a portion of this class. We recommend a shoe with a supportive sole. Flat bottom shoes are not recommended.

Tap
Description: Tap is a form of dance and music. It is a style of dance in which a dancer, wearing shoes fitted with heel and toe taps, make sounds and rhythms with their feet. This class is a 60-minute session held once a week throughout the year. Students in this class will learn one dance that will be featured in our annual end-of-year Showcase. This class will also be featured in our Fall Charity Showcase.
Attire & Hair: Males and females can wear comfortable clothing or athletic wear. Long hair must be pulled back into a ponytail or bun.

Tumbling
Description: Tumbling is designed for dancers who are interested in gymnastic technique. Tumbling adds an exciting quality to all dance forms. Skills like cartwheels, back hand springs, aerials and back tucks will be learned in this class, at each student's individual level of experience. This class is a 60-minute session held once a week throughout the year. Students in this class will learn one dance that will be featured in our annual end-of-year Showcase. This class will also be featured in our Fall Charity Showcase.
